Honoring God

February 27, 2024

Isaiah 1:2-4, 16-20 | Matt 23:1-12 | Psalm 50:7-15,22-24

“Whoever offers me the sacrifice of thanksgiving honors me; but to those who keep in my way will I show the salvation of God.”  Psalm50:24

As we have been in Lent for 2 weeks, who has made a Lenten goal?  Who has not, a day or two or more on this goal you set before yourself?

Lent is about self-reflection and honoring the journey of Jesus’ life and death. A death he freely accepted for all of us, sinners.  While some have decided to give up something and others take on working or adding something to enrich their life, to live more like Jesus.

I myself, I am trying to give up something and I am adding something as well. The sacrifice of giving up something is the way I try to honor God, it will be with a full heart I do this because God has blessed me with something I don’t need but want. Jesus did not want his life during this time to be filled with challenges and hardship, but he endured these sufferings to honor God and to honor us sinners. Can we not sacrifice something for 40 days?   Yes, it hard but the reward is great.  You aren’t failing if you don’t maintain your sacrifice. Actual you can choose to reset and retry or retry anytime, God will always be walking with you during your journey.

During Lent we look at our journey of life and try to find a meaningful way to honor God.  I propose the Lenten goal not to end at the end of the 40 days but continue onward. By continuing after Lent, this will honor Jesus’ death for us.

Remember you can reset as many times as needed, God is there to support you always with love and understanding.

Remember you are all honored by God for being you, and he will always be with you no matter if you achieve your Lenten goal or not. Remember to thank God both in the good and bad.

Many Lenten Blessing to you all.
