The Betrayal of Jesus

December 16, 2024

Isa. 8:16-9:1| 2 Peter 1:1-11| Luke 22:39-53

How sad Christ must have felt when a crowd suddenly appeared in Gestheme to witness his capture. So many people learned to know Jesus as a caring person who had come to earth and shown them loving ways to serve their God. But many others worried about losing their prestige or were jealous of the influence this humble man had in their society.

Jesus knew that his persecution was coming. Yet he did not back away because he understood that it was his duty to provide example of how to truly serve God the Father. Likely, each of us has faced challenges that made us wonder “why me” or “do I really have to go through this.” When this happens, it helps to draw strength from Christ’s “capture”. The cruel treatment he experienced led to a whole new understanding of the meaning of faith and strength and to the purpose and joy of a Christian Life.

Thank you, Jesus, for your wisdom, inspiration, and love!
