God’s love is transformational
March 2, 2026

Daniel 9:3-10| Luke 6:27-38| Psalm 79:1-9
I had some difficulty using the first few readings for today as inspiration for reflection*. However, upon reading Luke’s gospel I realized that my vision of Jesus and Our Lord, typically focuses on a more positive view than the Old Testament readings.
Luke reminds us that God loves those he has created and wants to help us love ourselves and others…expecting nothing in return. Luke asks, “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you”?
In today’s message Luke reminds us that God is our friend and wants to help each of us do the very best we can to help ourselves and others. I suspect that God’s joy in watching us do what we can for others is felt throughout this community and that He smiles as He sees the many charitable actions of so many parishioners of St. Luke’s.
It may not always be easy to help others, but when we do so with love and care…expecting nothing in return…God smiles upon us. I imagine that those of you reading this recognize the joy of helping others and the enthusiasm within in the parish to make all this happen. Let us all rejoice in the goodness of God.
