I’m a child of God
December 13, 2025

Esther 4:9-16/ Psalm 131/ Revelation 19:5-8/ John 1:9-14
John1:9-14 is specifically talking about Jesus as the true light and the Word. The beginning of John 1 talks about the Holy Trinity, a difficult concept for many. Three persons in one may seem impossible but remember that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).
The Holy Trinity created the world, and later God the Son came into it. It was part of God’s plan from the beginning. He came to his own people, God’s chosen ones, those whom he created (Gen 1:26). He became human and lived among his people, the sheep of his pasture (Ps 100:3). He shared their troubles, and he knew their difficulties. He had compassion and love for all, especially those in any kind of need. He loved them and showed them who God is. But some people didn’t recognize him. They couldn’t see who he really was, the personification of God. They didn’t see God’s qualities in Jesus. They were deaf and blind to his teachings. The Jewish leaders were too focused on the fine details of Jewish law to see and understand what Jesus was all about. Many people outrightly rejected him and eventually he was killed.
But those who could see and understand believed in Jesus. Jesus used wisdom in teachings and performed miracles as proof of who he was. To all those who accepted and believed in him, He gave the right to become children of God, the right to be claimed as God’s own, and the right to have a place beside him forever.
What does it mean to be a child of God? To me, it means that He saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in his book (Ps 139:16). He is my divine parent and loves me beyond comprehension. He has called me by name. I am his (Isaiah 43:1). He watches over me (Ps 121:5). It means that I know the Lord is always with me (Ps 16:8). He is my refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble (Ps 46:1).
We are reborn when we claim our birthright to God, when we believe and accept Jesus as the Son of God, our Savior Jesus Christ. What a gift! And I am convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38).
I am a child of God. Hallelujah! Fully known and loved. Hallelujah!
