Fresh Water

Dead Sea

Ezekiel 47:1–9,12  |  Psalm 46:1–8  |  John 5:1–18

Definitions:
Cubit = an ancient measure of length, approximately equal to the length of a forearm. It was typically about 18 inches
Arabah = desert or wilderness

Ezekiel 47:1 -9,12 talks about water everywhere in the sanctuary. The water is on all sides and beneath. The river is broad as measured in Cubits and deep so as not to be crossed. As the water heads out across the Arabah it provides a new life and flows into the stagnant sea creating an ample new source of fish, food, and trees.

I can’t help but reflect on my trips to the Dead Sea and Lake Mead. Two vast bodies of water that have dwindled so in the last decades. Absent of the life that water generally brings.

As I write this, the New England and California regions are getting pummeled by winter storms. Can new life come from the fresh water? Can healing come from the fresh water? Can vibrant growth come from the fresh water?
