Our trials are His way of perfecting our patience.

Micah 7:14–15,18–20 | Luke 15:11–32 | Psalm 103:1–4(5–8)9–12

While reading the gospel for today, I was reminded of one of my favorite reflections:

 Love Ever Gives, Forgives, Outlives…
For this is Love’s prerogative…  to give and give and give.

This is what the father of the prodigal son did, and this is what Our Father does for us each day. You might wonder how we can remember that God loves us if feeling downtrodden by the impact of COVID or when listening to today’s news.

I read somewhere that God encourages us to know that trials are His way of perfecting our patience. This ability is further refined and strengthened as we rest our trust, wants and dreams in God’s will rather than our own. I find this a most helpful reflection in my prayers and conversations with God. I hope it is making me a more patient, caring and understanding person.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them who fear him.
– Psalm 103
