About us
We are followers of Jesus, we are Anglicans, and we are members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church
Mission Pillar #1: Create, build, and foster a safe and inclusive community. This work takes many forms through the various small groups and ministries that span our parish and outreach activities.
Mission Pillar #2: Share our wealth and our Spirit through outreach and service. Through outreach programs, our parish answers the call to service within and beyond the walls of our church.
Mission Pillar #3: Nurture the soul and touch the divine through worship. Our worship experience is distinguished by rich tradition, engaging sermons, sacred music, and the participation of our community in liturgy in support of our Rector and Music Minister.
Mission Pillar #4: Provide lifelong faith formation so that youth and adults are encouraged to live more faithfully. At St. Luke’s, we believe that Christian formation is a lifelong pursuit as we seek to deepen our relationship with God.
Mission Pillar #5: Encourage justice and human rights for all. At the heart of our worship service, right before the celebration of the Eucharist, our celebrant invites all gathered to come to the altar rail for Communion because “all are welcome at the Lord’s Table.” This message of inclusion pervades everything we do at St. Luke’s, from community-building and outreach to worship and faith formation.
Safe Church Statement
All clergy, employees, and volunteers at St. Luke’s Church are required to undergo Safe Church Training through the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island. Safe Church Training is a required certification program for clergy, lay ministers, employees, vestry members, those who volunteer in programs for children and youth, and those who visit church members in their homes or assisted living facilities. It is required for church members with key access to the church. This training is also recommended for all lay people in leadership positions and leaders from outside groups who use the church facility for their programs. Safe Church training is grounded in our call to seek and serve Christ in all persons and to respect the dignity of every human being. The clergy and vestries of each individual church are responsible for oversight of their parishioners and staff who need to take the training. Contact our Parish Office regarding any questions about training.
